When asked, are you okay; Are you?

Being okay with self can be a challenge.  Acceptance of our strengths and limitations is the key.  It is easier to accept the strengths, but we always would rather change the limitations and wait to accept them in hopes that they will miraculously disappear.  Sometimes we blame our limitations on people, places, or situations.

The key to being more authentic in life is to accept ourselves just as we are.  This is an ever-changing process as we are ever changing.   Each moment of our existence influences our values, beliefs, and how we perceive the world within and without.  Sometimes the change is imperceptible and sometimes it is like a thunderbolt.

Before self-acceptance comes self-awareness.  Reviewing our beliefs, behaviors, and values is a journey not a destination.  Once on this path of self-discovery the thoughts and emotions can be like amusement park rides.  Sometimes a roller coaster and others a carousel ride.  Wonderful, fun, terrifying, enlightening, or just a bit nauseating.

Acceptance of self is not going to the mirror and saying to the reflection, “I accept you just as you are”.  Work goes into self-acceptance.  Hard work!  The results of this hard work are; freedom, sense of purpose, empowerment, and ability to accept others.  This makes living this life more interesting and fulfilling.

Come take the path with all of us at Authenticity; How Hard Can it Be? and take off the masks.
