Gift of Love
Lots of people are stressed and depressed during the holidays. Our serenity and our contentment are proportional to our expectations. When I try to bring something to the holiday season rather than focusing on what I can get from the season, I find that giving brings me joy. This will take me out of my head and help me to focus on others. I can’t be focused on others and depressed at the same time.
Give the gift of love. Call a friend who is struggling. Talk to someone you are having a conflict with and let them know that you care even if you disagree. Talk to a family member you haven’t talked to in a long time. Give to a person in need. Hug your loved ones. Do something good for someone and remain anonymous. Even taking the time to pray for someone will give the benefit of increasing good brain chemicals.
Give the gift of love even if the holidays aren’t important to you. We can all use a little love all the time.
