Brand new day, year, decade!

As we set forth in this new year making resolutions and plans to be better, I suggest that we are more accepting of who we are.  We have seen a great example of this with Pope Francis (slap the hand of woman trying to draw him near to her).  He needed her to release him but apologized for his reaction of a slap to her hand.  He did the next right thing.  Know that all human beings fall short of perfection.  By self-acceptance we take into consideration not only our assets but also what we consider to be deficits.  When we make mistakes, we can always do the “next right thing”.

Our personal attributes are what makes us unique, interesting, and exciting.  If we were all perfect and just alike, it would not be possible to learn and grow.  Do not apologize for who you are.  When in error, remember to do the “next right thing”.  It is always helpful to process errors with trusted people in your life.  Usually friends and advisors.  They can help you decide what the “next right thing” could be.

It is important that we have a support system of trusted friends, confidants, accountability partners and advisors.  This process is a big part of a life of personal, professional, and spiritual growth.  Some say if we are not growing, we are dying.  I say embrace every opportunity for growth.  Otherwise, life will change us, and it is better to live with purpose than with reaction.  I don’t know about you but every time I react to life without purpose, I end up having to do the “next right thing”.
