Being Who I Really Am is Harder Than I Thought

What is your experience with this process of being authentic? Do you find yourself saying yes when you want to say no? Do you find yourself going along with the crowd because it's too uncomfortable to express how you really feel about the situation? Do you stay in relationships with job, family, or friends that are not healthy for you?

Being authentic is a way to move through life being more honest and more humble. This sounds so easy. Well, it is simple, but it is not easy. I had to take stock of my shortcomings and my assets. This, in and of itself, was humbling. This was the beginning. It also required that I make restitution where warranted. I had to build a network of people that knew me, could hold me accountable, and accepted me just as I am. This is not an exhaustive list of the activities necessary to become and maintain my authenticity.

I hope that you will connect and respond to this post. I know that if more and more people are their true selves they will be more content and have healthier relationships. I know that has been the case for me.

Authentically,

Debbie Hackett
